Officer Selection at AGM

Members who wish to be considered for an Executive or Coordinator Posts will be required to submit their interest two weeks before the Annual General Meeting. No nomination or self nomination will be accepted from the floor. A brief of no more than 300 words can be submitted on application (distributed to members in advance of the AGM) and a 3 minute (max) supporting presentation at the meeting is encouraged but not mandatory. Candidates may apply for several posts in case they are not successful in their first choice. Only posts with no obvious candidate coming forward can be nominated from the floor at the AGM.

Reason for Proposal – our AGM is held in the summer, if a more than average number of posts are contested the meetings can be protracted and difficult to organise voting slips on the night. An early declaration and an opportunity to distribute a bit of information about the candidate will help move things along and provide a level playing field for all interested parties (including incumbent officers).
